Geared to visiting the Frank and Sylvia Pasquerilla Heritage Discovery Center. The Frank and Sylvia Pasquerilla Johnstown PA Heritage Discovery Center, located in Johnstown, PA, is full of dramatic PA immigration history, pictures and interactive displays. “America – Through The Immigrant Eyes”, tells the true history of Central Pennsylvania and what brought immigrants from around the world to settle in the Allegheny Mountains.
    • Three sections on website for educators- push and pull of immigration, Making a life and then making a living with resources for before and after the immigration museum. Readings before the visit, primary sources like letters and photos and classroom activities too. Post museum visit resource readings, transcript of movie and oral history activity.
    • Also, the Anna Wagner Ritter House Museum in Johnstown is an immigrant experience too!
    • (FYI inexpensive tickets cover the 3 museums and include the Johnstown flood museum too)

  • http://www.startwrite.com This program makes nice reports and handwriting worksheets for the unit
  • http://www.teachers-pet.org will turn any text into a worksheet I like to use it with the Wikipedia text or texts from Project Gutenberg. Open up a Microsoft Word “New” and then open the template and add ins’ for teacher’s pet and add one paragraph at a time and click the appropriate tab for the type of question you want.
