How This Smoothie Supports Healthy Blood Pressure
This smoothie isn’t just refreshing; it’s built from ingredients that support heart health and circulation naturally.
Beetroot Powder – Rich in natural nitrates, beetroot helps the body produce nitric oxide, which relaxes and widens blood vessels to improve circulation and support healthy blood pressure. It also adds a small boost of potassium, fiber, and antioxidants.
Dark Berries – Raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries are loaded with anthocyanins—antioxidants shown to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation; both linked to high blood pressure. They’re also low in sugar and high in vitamin C, fiber, and flavonoids that support blood vessel health.
Spinach – Naturally high in magnesium, potassium, and plant-based nitrates, spinach plays a direct role in blood pressure regulation and cardiovascular function—without overpowering the flavor.
Chia Seeds – With their high content of omega-3s, soluble fiber, and natural satiety factor, chia seeds help regulate cholesterol and blood sugar—both important for managing blood pressure.
Turmeric – Turmeric’s active compound curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce arterial stiffness and improve vascular function over time.
This smoothie is an easy way to get more heart-healthy nutrients into your day. It’s rich in fiber, antioxidants, and plant compounds that support circulation and overall wellness. Whether you’re managing health concerns or just want a better daily habit, this blend delivers both flavor and function.

This smoothie sounds delicious! My husband sometimes makes one that is very similar but he uses a fresh beet, have you tried that? If so, is there a big difference between using the fresh beet and the beetroot powder?

When I juice, I use fresh beets but I haven’t tried adding them to a smoothie or smoothie bowl yet. It’s been a while since I made fresh beet juice (There are some recipes linked at the bottom of the post). I do remember the earthy flavor being much more pronounced with fresh beets in juice compared to the milder taste of beetroot powder in smoothies. I’ve been waiting to get another spiralizer (mine broke) to make beet noodles.

Do you have any tips on how to get the spinach to liquify? Whenever I had spinach to my ninja it just gets tangled around the blades.

Hi Kandas. With a Vitamix, this is how you load it up in order: 1-Liquids (water, juice, yogurt). 2-Dry Goods (grains, seasonings powders). 3-Leafy Greens. 4-Fruits & Veggies. 5-Ice & Frozen Ingredients. https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/articles/a-quick-guide-to-the-perfect-blend
I have never used a Ninja. I could assume that Ninja has a guide to stacking ingredients to get your best blend. You might want to start slowly with the greens. Add your water or whatever liquid you are using first, then pulsing or running it for a few seconds, then you can add more spinach. That should help to break down the fibers.
