REACH Homeschool Drama Class for fall

REACH Drama Class – Registration is now open!

The main part of the class will be putting on a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This script is part of the “90 minute Shakespeare” adapted by Diane Timmerman. This script uses the original language of Shakespeare and the original flow of the play but in a shorter time format (90 minutes). Kids ages 5 and up are welcome to participate. The play was specifically chosen to incorporate lots of kids. Even the youngest children can be part of the fairy court. We will also include art classes to work on sets, sewing for costumes and some history about the play and Shakespeare. Children can be in the play or work on the technical side. We have a director in place and we want the kids to do as much as possible with adult supervision and mentoring. Our plan is to have rehearsals/classes on Friday’s from 12:30-3:00 in the Rochester area. The older kids with larger parts will need additional rehearsals. We will start on September 9, 2005 and put the show on the 2nd weekend in November, November 11th and 12th.

The cost for this program will be $30/child for the first child in the family and $20 for each sibling. (Payment plans can be arranged.) These fees will be used to purchase scripts, the building use fee and some supplies. This does not include costumes, sets, and makeup. We anticipate these to be supplied by the parents. We are not planning anything elaborate. No spot will be held unless paid for. You can pay by check made out to REACH or the REACH Paypal. *found on REACH’s homepage www.reachhomeschool.com

This is a 10-week commitment and it is important for the kids to want to commit to the entire project. We will have classes and rehearsals happening simultaneously and kids are expected to be in a class or rehearsal at all times. This will not be a drop-off program, parents are expected to stay and encouraged to help. This can be a family project!!

There are acting and non-acting roles needed. Acting will be discussed at the first meeting on September 9, 2005. Roles will be cast by September 16, 2005.
