Watermelon Juice: Summer’s Most Refreshing Sip (Even When It’s Not Perfect)
I made watermelon juice the other day using a seedless watermelon and my Omega Vert 350 juicer. Super easy to do. Just wash, cut to fit the hopper, juice, and strain. I set my strainer right over the juice catcher for less mess. If I want a smoother result, I run it through a finer mesh strainer.
It was refreshing, but honestly… kind of bland. I bought the watermelon from Kroger, and someone at work said theirs tasted the same. Maybe it was just that batch or maybe seedless varieties don’t always bring the same punch as the seeded ones.
Still, watermelon juice is absolutely worth making. With about 92% water content, watermelon juice is great for cooling down and staying hydrated on hot days. That vibrant red color comes from lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that supports heart health and skin health. It offers potassium and magnesium, which help with recovery and hydration, especially after activity or time in the heat. Watermelon contains citrulline, an amino acid linked to improved circulation and muscle recovery.
You can add a squeeze of lime or a few mint leaves to brighten the flavor. I looked for mint bunches at both Krogers and Fresh Thyme but only found the tiny plastic packs. I skipped that.
Watermelon juice is still one of the easiest and most hydrating drinks you can make, even if like in my case, it was not as sweet as I’m used to having.
From what I’ve read, seedless melons can taste flat because they’re bred more for texture and shelf life than sweetness. They may also be picked early or have a high water-to-sugar ratio. Next time, I’ll try Costco. —or better yet, my favorite farm stand once it opens. Next time I buy watermelon, I will try a different store like Costco. I have been impatiently waiting for my favorite farm stand to open and I know they will have them.
I’ll say it again, watermelon juice still wins for hydration, simplicity, and a light nutrient boost.

This looks delicious. I may just have to give this a try.
I’ve found myself being obsessed with watermelon this summer. I buy one seedless melon each week and have been eating the entire thing myself over the week.

I never thought about making watermelon juice, but that does sound like a tasty way to hydrate! Thank you for the idea!
