What’s In Your Fridge
I did a quick fridge inventory and here’s what I’m working with:
Apples: Granny Smith, Russet, Red Delicious, Ida Red, Golden Delicious (I think), and Macintosh
Pears: Asian and D’Anjou
Veggies: Celery, purple and orange carrots, regular and golden beets, romaine and leaf lettuce, Lacinato and (possibly) curly kale, red bell pepper, parsnips, leeks
Citrus: Lemons and oranges
Not refrigerated: ginger, turmeric, bananas, and avocado.
This list doesn’t include anything in the freezer I keep for smoothies, or food for other family members — just what’s on hand for raw juicing and clean meals.
I’ve never juiced a parsnip before, so that’ll be a first this week. And leeks? I’ve only had them cooked in boxed potato leek soup — never raw. Might try a savory, V8-style juice with garlic and leeks just to see how it turns out.
Also picked up a big bag of spinach and lemons from Costco since I was running low.
The local farmers market is only open one day a week, and Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s are a bit of a drive. The nearest grocery store has hit-or-miss produce — especially in rough weather — but sometimes you just make do.
