Mango Pineapple Green Smoothie Bowl

Lunch and dinner yesterday was a Mango Pineapple Green Smoothie Bowl. This smoothie bowl base has a 10-ounce container of super greens mix from Organic Girl that include red & green swiss chard, tat soi, arugula, and spinach. To help keep costs down, I bought the greens on clearance. I added frozen mango (roughly 1 1/2 cups), frozen pineapple (about 1/2 cup), chia seeds (1 scoop), almond milk, and 1 scoop Sunwarrior Vegan Collagen Building Powder Protein Peptides in Chocolate Fudge flavor. You can see in the picture below the peaks, or mounds, that are formed in the Vitamix.

Because I was taking this smoothie bowl to work, I put the smoothie in a Ball jar. I packed a Collapse-It collapsible bowl in my lunch bag. When I was hungry, I poured about half of the mixture into the bowl and added my toppings.

I ate the other half later during my work day. The red powder is what was in the bottom of the GoStak container that held the freeze-dried raspberries.

My lunch bag is the Ebags Crew Cooler II. Its exterior dimensions are: 15″ length x 10.5″ width x 8.5″ height. Ebags store is no longer but you can find Ebags Crew Coolers in secondary markets like eBay, Mercari, and so on.

Toppings:

Unsalted toasted sliced almonds, pineapple, freeze dried banana slices, freeze dried raspberries, and coconut strips. I bought most of the toppings from Trader Joe’s and they were inexpensive. A little goes a long way. I used BlenderBottle’s GoStak Food Storage Containers to bring my toppings. I have these in various sizes, and they easily fit into my lunch bag. By not adding the toppings until I’m ready to eat, they remain fresh (or at least in the state they were in when I took them out of their bags) and can’t sink into the bowl. I haven’t run across a problem of toppings sinking as all the smoothie bowl bases I’ve made so far are thick. The freeze dried banana slices are so tasty!

I’ll post more about costs in an upcoming post so be on the lookout for that.

Thoughts on this smoothie bowl:

I loved this smoothie bowl. Mangos are creamy, sweet, and so delicious. Pineapple was needed only in a small amount because it has a powerful taste. The protein powder I added helped to thicken the base and wasn’t overpowering and the chocolate fudge flavor complimented the base mixture.

This reipe looks delish and as I am still struggling to lose weight I will make this for my family for a snack this week. I’ve never had a Mango but have been wanting to try one and my husband loves Pineapple so I know he will like this Smoothie. Thank you for sharing the recipe with us.

That looks delicious and I like the food storage containers to add them just before you eat your meal. Coconut and slivered almonds are two of my favorite toppings in my creations.

Yes to coconut and almonds! Slivered defintely are better than whole almonds in a smoothie bowl.
