My Daughter’s Chocolatey Banana Nut Butter Smoothie
My daughter whipped up this smoothie on the fly this morning, and it turned out so good I had to share. It’s rich, chocolatey, and packed with nutritious add-ins—perfect for a quick breakfast or midday boost. She blended two fresh bananas with cacao, mixed nut butter, ice, and some power-packed extras:
– Manitoba Harvest Organic Hemp Hearts
– Flax Seed Meal
– MegaFood Megaflora Probiotic
– Collagen Peptides
This is definitely one of those “tastes like dessert, but fuels your day” kind of smoothies. No exact measurements yet—but if she shares the ratios, I’ll update this post with a full recipe card.
Nutrition Benefits Breakdown:
🍌 Bananas – Great source of potassium, vitamin B6, and natural energy. Helps with digestion and gives that creamy smoothie texture.
🥜 Mixed Nut Butter – Full of healthy fats and plant-based protein. Also provides magnesium, vitamin E, and fiber.
🍫 Cacao – High in antioxidants and magnesium. Boosts mood and may support brain function.
🌱 Hemp Seeds – Complete plant protein (all 9 essential amino acids), omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, plus iron and zinc.
🌾 Flaxseed Meal – Loaded with omega-3s (ALA), fiber, and lignans (antioxidants). Supports heart health and digestion.
🧬 Probiotic (MegaFlora) – Supports gut health, immune function, and nutrient absorption. Especially helpful if you’re aiming for wellness from the inside out.

I probably should not be reading this just before I go to bed. 🙂
It looks so good.
The ones I make would just be bananas, chocolate (already sweetened) and frozen yogourt.
I’d be missing all the healthier stuff.

Hi Doug! I know everyone’s got their own style of smoothies. My daughter’s been working hard to avoid added sugar, seed oils, and dairy, so it’s been really cool seeing her create things that align with her goals and still taste good to her. This one felt like a win for her.
And now all this talk of chocolate has me wanting some—go figure. 😄

Looks good! Chocolatey, rich, and healthy is an awesome combination. I’d probably leave out the ice because sensitive teeth, however.

Hi Alice, Try frozen banana instead of fresh to keep it cold without ice. Add around 1/2 cup of oat milk, almond milk, or water—just enough to keep it blending smooth. I hope you do try it!
