Peach and Blueberry Green Smoothie Bowl
Panera use to offer a Peach & Blueberry Smoothie with almond milk. All their smoothies use a frozen base mix. When you make the drink, it is 6 oz peach mango purée, 2 oz almond milk, approximately 1 oz blueberries, and a white scoop of ice. Looking at the ingredients and high sugar content listed on those base mix containers was a turn-off for me. When people asked about my favorite smoothie, I always recommended going to Tropical Smoothie Cafe down the street and getting a smoothie without sugar.
Detailed ingredients for Panera’s Peach Blueberry Smoothie with Almond Milk via the Internet Wayback Machine: Peach Mango Base (Mango and Peach Purees, White Grape and Passionfruit Juice Concentrates, Water, Natural Flavors), Water, Unsweetened Almond Milk (Almond Milk [Filtered Water, Almonds], Potassium Citrate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Sunflower Lecithin, Sea Salt, Natural Flavors, Guar Gum, Gellan Gum), Fresh Blueberries.
My smoothie bowl version features a blend of fresh greens and frozen fruit, along with ginger, turmeric, chia seeds, and protein powder.
Ingredients:
3-4 cups kale, spinach, chard. Earthbound Farm Power Greens spinach, kale, chard – buy at Costco
1 cup blueberries frozen
1 1/2 cup peaches frozen
2 inches ginger
1 1/2 inches turmeric
3 Tablespoons chia seeds
1/2 cup almond milk; I use Costco’s Kirkland Almond Non-dairy Beverage (the blue box)
1 scoop SunWarrior Warrior Blend Vanilla Protein Powder
I started with 1/4 cup of almond milk, Vitamixed it for a bit, scraped down the sides, and added the other 1/4 cup. Then just blend until smooth and creamy. After pouring the mixture into a bowl I added the toppings.
Toppings:
Top with fresh blueberries, slivered almonds, granola, and coconut chips for extra texture and flavor. You can add sliced peaches, but I opted not to this time. I am using Carlo’s Grain-Free Gluten-Free Blueberry Walnut Granola.
This smoothie bowl is rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber from the fruits and leafy greens. The combination of sweet blueberries, and peach, along with the nutrient-packed greens, makes for a refreshing and satisfying breakfast or lunch. Customize the toppings based on your preferences and enjoy the vibrant flavors and textures!

That’s the thing with fruit such as mango, grapes, cherries or pears: they natrually contain pretty high amount of sugars. That’s why people who watch their blood sugar, shy away from fruit. Great that you got to engineer your own smoothie mix!

You make a great point about the natural sugars found in fruits like mangoes, grapes, cherries, and pears. These sugars come packaged with essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which contribute to overall health. In contrast, the added sugars prevalent in the standard American diet, often found in sugary beverages, processed snacks, and desserts, provide little to no nutritional value and can contribute to health issues when consumed in excess. It’s all about finding a balance that supports both nutritional needs and blood sugar management. How do you approach balancing fruit intake with your overall dietary choices?

The coconut chips got me on this one, I love coconut and with blueberries, super yum! I’m not much of a peach person, maybe I could substitute them for strawberries? I’m loving all your smoothie bowls.
Jodi
You definitely could swap the peaches for strawberries. I think if I did that, I might go easier on the turmeric or skip that as well.

Your smoothie recipes are amazing! This peach and blueberry green smoothie looks yummy. This is a great way to use spinach, kale, and chard. Personally I do not like most kale, so I always stear tward the spinach. I never thought of using chard. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration to make a healthy treat! I look forward to your next recipe!
Jodi
Thank you Kristine! I think on the bitterness scale it goes spinach, chard, and then kale. Earthbound Farm makes really nice blends. One type of green doesn’t seem to overpower the other. They make it really easy to use their product as pretty much all the prep work is done for you.
