Purple Sweet Potato Berry Green Smoothie Bowl

I learned from the last time I used purple sweet potato. The taste is powerful. I do not need to use the entire 10-ounce bag. The smoothie base has 1 cup of frozen purple sweet potato. It is thick and creamy once vitamixed. The berries were a nice compliment to the purple sweet potato. Even though arugula has a strong, peppery taste, the other greens tone it down and it doesn’t turn the base savory.

When buying clearance bananas to freeze for smoothies and smoothie bowls, it’s best to check them out to make sure they are not too far gone. A couple that I bought most recently were quite a bit mushy. Those were probably better suited for banana bread than they would be for a smoothie.

Confession: until this moment, I didn’t even know there were purple sweet potatoes. I am sooooooo out of it! Now, thanks to you, I will definitely check them out. Your recipe bowls are so inspiring!

Thank you so much! The ones I bought were frozen and marketed specifically for smoothies. I know there is a different between Ube and Purple Sweet Potato. When I was at Trader Joe’s the other day, they had a lot of their seasonal items that feature Ube in them. I read up on the different between those two items. As there are so many kinds of potato, it seems only natural there would be different kinds of purple potato. While I love mashed potatoes, purple sweet potato does not taste like that at all. Only the texture and creaminess feel the same to me. There is a purple sweet potato juice I’d like to try at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7zHLy7oxSY

I had to go to great lengths to be able to buy purple sweet potatoes in my area, but I was curious because I had seen many videos touting their valuable nutrients.
Speaking of curious, I am curious: what can you remember from your German classes?

Hi Tamara, When I saw those purple sweet potatoes on clearance, I took every bag I could buy. I’ve made juices with regular sweet potatoes and love those. I figured there would be no reason for me not to love purple sweet potatoes too. To answer your question, not all that much. I do recall a foreign language night at school and doing a German dance. I cannot recall what I did for Spanish class on that night. I didn’t have as many years of German classes as I did Spanish classes. I’ve been around more German speaking people and also a German cultural club so I’ve had more real life experience with German language. I think the more you are around the language, the better you are to understand it.
