A great way to exercise in any kind of weather is to roller skate. Read from Planet On Wheels about the health benefits of skating. Many skating rinks are offering homeschool skate sessions. Look for a participating rink near you and have a fun time with friends.

Home School Skating at The New Rink Shelby Township

Roller Skating days will begin on Friday, October 14, 2011 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm and will continue on the 2nd Friday of each month through May 11, 2012. The price is $5 per person and includes regular skate rental. Blades are $2 extra.

Rochester Hills Skating & Sports Arena has Home School Learn to Skate Class on Tuesdays from 1:30-2:30pm. Animal Crackers and Stroller Skate (tiny tot session with mini-lesson) on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30pm. Rochester Hills Skating Club from 3:00-6:00pm for children interested in advanced skating techniques. They are open to add more daytime activities or daytime skating sessions as the need arises.

Homeschool Skate is the 3rd Tuesday of each month from Noon to 2:00pm. This session is offered to homeschooling parents and their children only. Music played for this event consists solely of Christian Music geared for the youngsters and their parents. Admission includes regular or inline skate rental along with Tunnels N’ Tubes Playcenter for the kids. Note that all children ages 2 and over will be charged admission – whether they plan to skate or not. Parents who are not skating may enter the building free of charge. All parents who plan to skate must purchase an admission ticket.
Strollers & Rollers is the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 9:30am – 11:30am. For small children and their parents. Grandparents are also welcome. Admission includes regular or inline stake rental along with Tunnels N’ Tubes Playcenter for the kids. Note that anyone ages 2 and over will be charged admission – whether they plan to skate or not. Infants in strollers and pregnant moms may enter the building free of charge.
